The paper is proposing a possible link between the construction of theSilbury Hill, the prehistoric artificial mound near Avebury, and theobservation of Alpha Crucis, the main star of the Crux constellation, which wasslowly disappearing from the local sky due to the precession of the Earth'saxis. For the discussion, we used simulations of the local astronomicallandscape made by means of Stellarium software.

A possible role of Alpha Crucis in the astronomical landscape of Silbury Hill
