Compact silicon integrated devices, such as micro-ring resonators, haverecently been demonstrated as efficient sources of quantum correlated photonpairs. The mass production of integrated devices demands the implementation offast and reliable techniques to monitor the device performances. In the case oftime-energy correlations, this is particularly challenging, as it requires highspectral resolution that is not currently achievable in coincidencemeasurements. Here we reconstruct the joint spectral density of photons pairsgenerated by spontaneous four-wave mixing in a silicon ring resonator bystudying the corresponding stimulated process, namely stimulated four wavemixing. We show that this approach, featuring high spectral resolution andshort measurement times, allows one to discriminate between nearly-uncorrelatedand highly-correlated photon pairs.
