We derive an asymptotic expansion for two-dimensional displacement fieldassociated to thin elastic inhomogeneities having no uniform thickness. Ourderivation is rigorous and based on layer potential techniques. We extend thesetechniques to determine a relationship between traction-displacementmeasurements and the shape of the object.
