We introduce a fully length-based Bayesian model for the population dynamicsof northern shrimp (Pandalus Borealis). This has the advantage of structuringthe population in terms of a directly observable quantity, requiring noindirect estimation of age distributions from measurements of size. Theintroduced model is intended as a simplistic prototype around which furtherdevelopments and refinements can be built. As a case study, we use the model toanalyze the population of Skagerrak and the Norwegian Deep in the years1988-2012.
