Nuclear Lattice Effective Field Theory is a new many-body approach that isfirmly rooted in the symmetries of QCD. In particular, it allows for truly abinitio calculations of nuclear structure and reactions. In this talk, I focuson the emergence of alpha-clustering in nuclei based on this approach. I alsodiscuss various recent achievements, the deficiencies of the chiral forces usedat present and the prospects to improve upon these and the calculations ofnuclear properties and dynamics.
