The interplay between the orbital and spin currents in (e,e') excitations oflight nuclei is discussed. The microscopic analysis of E1 and M2 resonances wasperformed within the particle-core coupling approximation (PCC) of the shellmodel. The comparison of the theoretical results with the availableexperimental data has shown that the studies of relative contributions of theorbital and different spin components of the nuclear current into theexcitation of EJ and MJ resonances could be useful for the identification oftheir configurational structure.
