In this letter we address the vortex core dynamics involved in gyrationexcitation and damping change by out-of-plane oscillating magnetic fields. Whenthe vortex core is at rest under the effect of in-plane bias magnetic fields,the spin waves excited by the perpendicular magnetic field can induce obviousvortex gyration. When simultaneously excite spin waves and vortex gyrotropicmotion, the gyration damping changes. Analysis of the system energy allows usto explain the origin of the spin-wave-mediated vortex gyration.
