User performance on a wireless network depends on whether a neighboringcochannel interferer applies a single (spatial) stream or a multi streamtransmission. This work analyzes the impact of interference rank on abeamforming and orthogonal space-time block coded (OSTBC) user transmission. Wegeneralize existing analytical results onsignal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) distribution and outageprobability under arbitrary number of unequal power interferers. We show thathigher rank interference causes lower outage probability, and can supportbetter outage threshold especially in the case of beamforming.
