Next generation computer architectures will include order of magnitude moreintra-node parallelism; however, many application programmers have a difficulttime keeping their codes current with the state-of-the-art machines. In thiscontext, we analyze Hyperbolic PDE solvers, which are used in the solution ofmany important applications in science and engineering. We present ManyClaw, aproject intended to explore the exploitation of intra-node parallelism inhyperbolic PDE solvers via the Clawpack software package for solving hyperbolicPDEs. Our goal is to separate the low level parallelism and the physicalequations thus providing users the capability to leverage intra-nodeparallelism without explicitly writing code to take advantage of newerarchitectures.
