Co-sited with TA/TALE, the Non-Imaging CHErenkov Array (NICHE) will measurethe flux and nuclear composition of cosmic rays from below 10^16 eV to 10^18 eVin its initial deployment. Furthermore, the low-energy threshold can besignificantly decreased below the cosmic ray knee via counter redeployment orby including additional counters. NICHE uses easily deployable detectors tomeasure the amplitude and time-spread of the air-shower Cherenkov signal toachieve an event-by-event measurement of Xmax and energy, each with excellentresolution. NICHE will have sufficient area and angular acceptance to havesignificant overlap with the TA/TALE detectors to allow for energycross-calibration. Simulated NICHE performance has shown that the array has theability to distinguish between several different composition models as well asmeasure the end of Galactic cosmic ray spectrum.
