We present the result of a preliminary assessment of radio-frequencyradiation exposure from selected mobile base stations in Ajaokuta environs. ThePower density of RF radiation within a radial distance of 125m was measured.Although values fluctuated due to the influence of other factors, includingwave interference from other electromagnetic sources around reference basestations, we show from analysis that radiation exposure level is below thestandard limit (4.5W/sqm for 900MHz and 9W/sqm for 18000MHz) set by theInternational Commission on Non-ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) andother regulatory agencies.
