Aggressive frequency reuse in the return link (RL) of multibeam satellitecommunications (SatComs) is crucial towards the implementation of nextgeneration, interactive satellite services. In this direction, multiuserdetection has shown great potential in mitigating the increased intrasysteminterferences, induced by a tight spectrum reuse. Herein we present an analyticframework to describe the linear Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) performanceof multiuser channels that exhibit full receive correlation: an inherentattribute of the RL of multibeam SatComs. Analytic, tight approximations on theMMSE performance are proposed for cases where closed form solutions are notavailable in the existing literature. The proposed framework is generic, thusproviding a generalized solution straightforwardly extendable to various fadingmodels over channels that exhibit full receive correlation. Simulation resultsare provided to show the tightness of the proposed approximation with respectto the available transmit power.
