We examine two properties of complex networks, the robustness againsttargeted node removal (attack) and the transport efficiency in terms of degreecorrelation in node connection by numerical evaluation of exact analyticexpressions. We find that, while the assortative correlation enhances thestructural robustness against attack, the disassortative correlationsignificantly improves the transport efficiency of the network underconsideration. This finding might shed light on the reason why some networks inthe real world prefer assortative correlation and others prefer disassortativeone.
