An approach is suggested for treating multiscale fluctuations inmacromolecular systems. The emphasis is on the statistical properties of suchfluctuations. The approach is illustrated by a macromolecular system withmesoscopic fluctuations between the states of atomic orbitals. Strong-orbitaland weak-orbital couplings fluctuationally arise, being multiscale in space andtime. Statistical properties of the system are obtained by averaging over themultiscale fluctuations. The existence of such multiscale fluctuations causesphase transitions between strong-coupling and weak-coupling states. Thesetransitions are connected with structure and size transformations ofmacromolecules. An approach for treating density and size multiscalefluctuations by means of classical statistical mechanics is also advanced.
