Different equations of state (EOS) have been used to study pressure as afunction of volume compressions at a given temperature. The critical test ofEOS' for solids under low compressions (<10GPa) by evaluating thepressure-volume derivative properties viz., isothermal bulk modulus and itspressure derivative calculated for BiFeO3. The elastic moduli such as bulkmodulus, shear modulus, Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio have beencalculated as a function of pressure. The values of elastic moduli have beenobtained using compressional wave velocity and shear wave velocity. Bothcompressional and shear velocities and poisson's ratio are in accordance withavailable experimental data. It is found that B-M EOS gives satisfactory resultwhich is in good agreement with the Stacey EOS.
