The third harmonic nine-cell cavity (3.9 GHz) for FLASH and the European XFELhas been investigated using simulations performed with the computer code CSTMicrowave Studio. The band structure of monopole, dipole, quadrupole andsextupole modes for an ideal cavity has been studied. The higher order modesfor the nine-cell structure are compared with that of the cavity mid-cell. TheR/Q of these eigenmodes are calculated.
