Even distribution of carriers allows to maximize optical gain of theOptically-Pumped Vertical External Cavity Surface Emitting Laser. In this paperwe show how to distribute the quantum wells and blocking layers in order tocompensate the exponential decay of the pumping beam intensity. Our model sayswhether it is possible at all (for an assumed length of the device) and, if itis, allows to find positions of the blocking layers. No iterations nornumerical calculations more sophisticated than a standard calculator can do arerequired to use the model.
