The new methodical approach of using ethanol as internal standard in gaschromatographic analysis of volatile compounds in spirit drinks in dailypractice of testing laboratories is proposed. This method providesdetermination of volatile compounds concentrations in spirit drinks directlyexpressed in milligrams per liter (mg/L) of absolute alcohol according toofficial methods without measuring of alcohol strength of analyzed sample. Theexperimental demonstration of this method for determination of volatilecompounds in spirit drinks by gas chromatography is described.
