This study was announced for the first time in Greek language in 1988 in theNational Observatory of Athens, in the conference of the 1st PanhellenicSymposium entitled "Solar and Space Research in Greece Today - Basic Research,Technology and Applications" organized by the National Observatory of Athens,in Penteli (Athens) in 1988. It was also republished in the Conferenceproceedings of the 2nd Panhellenic Symposium held in Democritus University ofThrace, Xanthi - Greece, 26-29 April 1993. In this study, G.P. Pavlos,initially inspired from the theory of self organization of Prigogine [1] andNicolis [2], proposes the hypothesis of magnetospheric chaos believing that theclassical theory of plasma statistics and plasma instabilities are not able todescribe efficiently the holistic character of magnetospheric dynamics. Thetranslation of this study in English language is significant concerning thehistory of scientific ideas, since the research that took place the followingyears vindicated the hypothesis of magnetospheric chaos which this study firstintroduced in 1988
