Dipole antennas have been invented a hundred years ago. Nevertheless, whatreally happens in their proximity during emission (the so-called near-field) isstill an open question and the many explanations put forth are not fullyconvincing. Subject to specific conditions the signal present on the conductorassumes the properties of a pure electromagnetic wave. We would like to giveour point of view on the modality of this transition, with the hope ofproviding suggestions for ameliorating or projecting new devices.
