Because of climate change, extreme climatic conditions frequently occur all over the world, and the damage caused by heavy rainfall is rapidly increasing. To anticipate and compensate for the damage caused by the change in the rainfall pattern, studies are being actively conducted to estimate the maximum amount of rainfall depth and prepare appropriate measures. This work is a preliminary study to estimate the maximum rainfall amount resulting from climate change. We tried to reproduce the rainfall depth caused by a storm event in the Imjin River basin in 1999 using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model as a regional climate model. The initial and boundary conditions of WRF model were generated using the ERA-interim data, and SBU-YLIN, Kain-Fritsch, and YSU schemes were selected as an optimal physical-option combination through various numerical experiments. As a result, the linking of the WRF model with the ERA-Interim data was confirmed to reproduce the cumulative rainfall depth and temporal pattern of rainfall caused by the storm event in the Imjin River basin in 1999.
