Water supply facilities such as water distribution systems are large and spatially distributed and because most facilities are buried underground, conditions cannot be identified and monitored. These types of facilities are thus extremely vulnerable to earthquake disasters, particularly those that occur on a large scale, which can cause tremendous damage. In this study, we propose a hydraulic analysis methodology to supplement the problems posed by existing models to quantify the performance of water supply facilities against earthquakes. The developed methodology can more realistically simulate many pipe leakage and rupture situations. A model was simulated by applying the methodology to a typical virtual network, and new performance quantification indicators were presented and analyzed. The developed model can simultaneously quantify water usage and water leakage generation from the perspective of a supplier in the event of an earthquake. Thus, it can be used as a basic study for establishing disaster guidelines.
