A novel procedure for Ferrier rearrangement of tri-O-acetyl-D-glycals in the presence of 3,5- dinitrobenozic acid has been developed. 3,5-Dinitrobenzoic acid is an effective, very cheap and viable catalyst in above synthetic transformations with various alcohols and thiophenols.
