The Titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) is recognized for its distinctive characteristics such as high strength to weight ratio, low density, and excellent elevated temperature properties up to 600 oC. These structurally efficient metals are mostly accepted and frequently used for the manufacturing of critical high performance aircrafts, such as jet engines and other airframe, automobile components. Tungsten inert gas welding (TIG) is one of the mostly used arc welding process in various manufacturing industries. In this experiment response surface methodology has been adopted to evaluate the effects of the input variables (current and welding speed), on output responses (weld bead width and reinforcement height). The Relationship between these two responses is analyzed using the multiple response optimization technique named as desirability function. The outcome shall be beneficial in selecting suitable parameters of TIG welding of Titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) to obtain the required shape of the weld bead from which quality of the weld can be accessed.
