This paper is based on the premise that the high unemployment of youth in Nigeria can be minimized and the crises arising therefrom can be greatly reduced and the economy strengthened if Nigeria develops a robust and virile maritime industry and quality vocational and technical education and training programme. The paper explains the terms maritime industry and vocational and technical education and highlighted the possible contribution of robust maritime activities to the nation’s economy.
