Water and ethanol extracts of 16 different Korean traditional oriental prescriptions used widely for prevention of degenerative arthritis were prepared and their total phenolic and total flavonoid contents were quantified. Additionally, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of water, ethanol and enzyme-treated extracts were determined by in vitro assays.
