After the ARUBA trial result were published, the surgical treatment of brain arteriovenous malformations(AVM)faces a new era. In this manuscript, the results of the ARUBA trial are summarized and the criticisms against this study are reviewed. The surgical skills required for safely removing of AVMs are summarized.
