lbedlosomella Pectiniterga (Deerning, 1964) and the allied species are revised. Two new species, Poecilosomella insulan's sp. nov. from Biak L, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and R PaPPi sp. nov. from Sri Lanka and Malaysia {Borneo) are described and illustrated. These two species were formerly considered to be R Pectinitergu, Poecilosomella Pectiniterga (Deeming, 1964) is a characteristic species, having 612 developed spines on right margin of male sternite 8 (see Deeming, 1964; Fig. 2). This species was described from Christmas I. and Biak I., Indonesia, and later recorded from Australia <Richards, 1973) and from Flores I., Indonesia and Sri Lanka (Papp, 1991). In the course of the taxonomic study on the Orientai and Australasian species of the genus POecilosomella Duda, I examined rather many specimens having a such character. Fortunately, I had a chance to examine the holotype specirnen from Christmas I. through the courtesy of Dr. B.R. Pitkin of Natural History Museum, London. As a result of the examination of the type and my materials, I concluded that specimens hitherto identified as R Pectiniterga actually contained 3 distinct species. They are easily separated from one another by male tibial armature. These three species are clearly monophyletic in having a synapomorphy shown by characteristic male sternite 8. Up to the present, they are found only from the islands of South and West Pacific and Indian Ocean. It seems that they are allopatric in distribution. POecilosomeUa insutaris Hayashi, sp. nov. (Figs. 1, 3, 6, 9, 12) Body length r2.2-2.4 mm, \ 2.2-2.6 mm. Head: Mostly reddish brown with several silver spots at base of setae and behind ocellar triangle; face shining, somewhat translucent; ocellar triangle dark brown; occiput brown to dark brown; 1 vi, 1 oc, 2 ofs, 1 vti, 1 vte, 1 occi and 1 occe;pvt absent; 2-3 weak ij; genal seta strong; the longest eye diameter about 3.2 times as long as the smallest genal width; antenna reddish brown, 3rd segment somewhat paler; arista long, about 4.0 times as long as 3rd antennal segment, long pubescent. Thorax: Dark brown, mesonotum with silver spots forming 3 rows; 2 strong dc; 2 kopst; scutellum triangular, somewhat longer than wide; 2 strong sc, apical sc about 1.5 times as long as scutellum.
