Assessment of groundwater samples obtained from shallow wells in different parts of Iwo was investigated for their trace metal levels in order to determine their portability status. Samples were collected for two months each during the peak periods of wet and dry seasons. The levels of trace metals in the samples were profiled using flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer and very low frequency electromagnetic (VLF) methods. The overall mean concentrations (mg/L) of these metals were of the order Mn (0.06±0.01) = Cu (0.06±0.01) > Mg (0.56±0.12) > Zn (0.05±0.01) = Cr (0.05±0.06) > Fe (0.03±0.01) > Cd (0.02±0.01) > Pb (0.01±0.02) = As (0.01±0.00) > Hg (0.00±0.00). The VLF electromagnetic applied showed that the metals found their ways into these wells through fractures and joints that characterised the study area. Seasonal mean levels showed no significant variations in most of the trace metals with exception of some non-essential trace elements. The findings revealed that the levels of Mn, Fe, Cu, Pb, Cr and Cd were either equal to or exceed the permissible limits while the remaining metals were below these limits.
