The second questionnaire for scientists and engineers was carried out in 2007 [1], and status of Japanese scientists and engineers were analyzed and reported. The results have played important roles for the promotion of equal participation of men and women in Japan. The data were reanalyzed from the viewpoint of work life balance. In particular, office/laboratory staying hour and home working hour were analyzed and dependences on various factors were investigated. It was found that these hours depend on gender, marital state, children, stability of position and age. The figure shows the relationship between those hours and effect of several factors. The sum of these hours for women is shorter than that for men, and women tend to be affected largely by the factors. It is interesting that the sum of these hours tends to be kept constant in spite of various factors.
