We investigate the three-body fragmentation of double-charged propyne (CH3CCH2+) and allene (CH2CCH22+) to H+ + C3H2+ +H induced by 50-kev/u Ne8+ ion. Using the reaction microscope, the momentum vectors of H+ and C3H2+ are directly obtained, and then the momentum of the undetected fragment is reconstructed according to momentum conservation. By analyzing the kinetic energies of the three fragments and the total kinetic energy release of the dissociation process, the events with H atom as the third fragments are discriminated from H+, and thus the H+ + C3H2+ + H channel is identified. In addition, it is found that the sequential fragmentation pathway in which H+ + C3H3+ are produced in the first step followed by dissociation of C3H3+ to C3H2+ + H in the second step is the dominant dissociation mechanism according to detailed analysis of the Dalitz plot, Newton diagram and α distributions.
