Break-through experiments were performed on recovery of dilute hydrogen molecules from helium gas by a packed bed of potassium-graphite intercalation compound to investigate its utilizability for recovery of hydrogen isotopes from sweep gas in CTR blanket system. Helium gas including 1-5% of hydrogen was introduced to the bed and the H2 concentration at its outlet was monitored by TCD detector. Dilute hydrogen molecules at the level of 100 ppm in concentration were confirmed to be recovered by this method. Break-through point depended little on the flow rate and the H2 concentration of the sweep gas. Hydrogen uptake obtained in this study agreed well with the isotherm obtained by an equilibrium method. It was concluded that this process is promising for recovery of dilute hydrogen isotopes in helium gas.
