Bien des chercheurs en éducation ont été portés à soutenir et à professer que seule l’approche quantitative pouvait présenter assez de garanties pour faire d’une recherche en éducation une recherche sérieuse et fiable. L’auteur, après avoir résumé ce qu’il entend par approche quantitative et approche qualitative, analyse les circonstances qui ont conduit à un changement de paradigme dans les sciences de l’éducation; il en vient à la conclusion qu’un nouveau paradigme est peut-être en voie d’apparaître.Educational researchers have traditionally held that the quantitative approach presents sufficient guarantees so as to made a research study in education one that is serious and reliable. The author summarizes his view of quantitative and qualitative approaches in education and analyses the conditions that would lead to a change in the paradigm associated with educational research. He concludes that a new paradigm is possibly imminent.Muchos investigadores en educación han afirmado y profesado que sólo el enfoque cuantitativo puede presentar suficientes garantías para hacer, de una investigación en educación, un estudio serio y confiable.
