RésuméPlusieurs oeuvres récentes d'André Brochu mettent de l'avant la question de l'identité: La Grande Langue. Éloge de l'anglais, Fièvres blanches et La Vie aux trousses. Dans ce dernier ouvrage, l'interrogation s'articule plus précisément autour de la création d'une identité masculine spécifique. Il s'agira donc d'étudier ce roman afin de voir quelle tangence prend l'interrogation identitaire au regard de la masculinité. À partir des nouvelles théories de la masculinité, nous verrons que le texte de Brochu oscille entre une conception traditionnelle et une autre plus près de la pensée constructiviste - elle-même à l'origine des théories actuelles de la masculinité-, notamment par rapport à la représentation de l'homosexualité. En s'attardant au langage du texte et plus particulièrement aux divers procédés rhétoriques, nous pouvons voir que la construction de l'être masculin dans La Vie aux trousses s'effectue de façon ludique, ironique et parfois contradictoire.AbstractSeveral of André Brochu's recent books put in the forefront the question of identity: La Grande langue. Éloge de l'anglais, Fièvres blanches and La Vie aux trousses. This article examines the configuration of masculine identity contained in this last novel. In light of new theories of masculinity, Brochu's text oscillates between a traditional conception and a more constructivist one - itself at the origin of contemporary theories of masculinity -particularly with respect to the representation of homosexuality. In emphasizing the book's language and diverse rhetorical structures, we notice that the construction of the male being in La Vie aux trousses operates in a playful, ironic and often contradictory manner
