À partir d’une double recherche de terrain menée en Seine-Saint-Denis (ethnographies des migrants roms de Roumanie et des actions publiques ciblées mises en oeuvre à leur attention), cet article propose une réflexion sur les formes et conditions de la « réussite » des dispositifs d’accompagnement social et de relogement (« projets d’insertion »). Le suivi de tels projets montre que l’ensemble des acteurs en présence « bricole » afin de garder le cap dans un contexte mouvant et incertain, celui de la ville en train de se faire, pour y conserver (ou y prendre) sa place. Au-delà des migrants roms, cette réflexion souhaite contribuer aux débats sur la valeur de l’informalité et du malentendu dans les dynamiques d’intégration sociale.Stemming from fieldwork conducted in Seine-Saint-Denis (ethnographies of migrant Romanian Romas and the public actions created for them), this article proposes a reflection on the forms and conditions for the “success” stories stemming from the provision of social accompaniment and relocation (“insertion projects”). Such projects show how actors “bricole” or make-do in order to stay the course in the changing and uncertain context of the city reimagining itself in order to include or make room for this group. Above and beyond Roma migrants, this reflection hopes to contribute to the debates on the value of informality and inherent misunderstandings in the context of social integration
