La présente réflexion propose un parcours à travers le roman africain francophone pour y étudier les variations autour de la figure du père. Partant de la représentation de celle-ci dans des oeuvres de femmes africaines, on verra par la suite dans un corpus plus vaste comment le système phallocentrique se défait à partir du moment où le père est rabaissé au rang d’enfant par le paternalisme colonial. Dans le contexte des violences postcoloniales, il perd la voix, mais se retrouve en compagnie des sans-voix historiques, c’est-à-dire la femme/mère et l’enfant. De cette constellation nouvelle et marquée par la commune expérience de la violence naîtra une parole des fils qui, paradoxalement, engendrent les pères par la prise en charge du récit de leurs souffrances.This article proposes a study of the diverse representations of the father figure in the Francophone African novel. Starting from the representation of the father in African women writings, we shall then see how the phallocentric system is dismantled in a larger body of works in which the father is reduced to the position of a child by colonial paternalism. Indeed, in the context of postcolonial violence, he loses his voice and finds himself among the historical voiceless, namely the women/mother and the son/daughter. This new constellation marked by the common experience of violence will paradoxically give rise to a discourse through which the sons will “father” their fathers by taking in charge the narrative of their sufferings
