L’approche structurelle que l’auteur a développée vise deux objectifs : réduire la distance sociale entre l’intervenante et la cliente, comprendre et résoudre les problèmes sociaux dans leur contexte social, politique et économique. Le postulat de base est que les conditions matérielles objectives engendrées par le patriarcat et le mode de production capitaliste déterminent la façon dont les hommes et les femmes, selon leur classe sociale, pensent et agissent.À travers le récit critique de son cheminement de formation, l’auteur expose comment divers modèles de thérapie familiale (Epstein, Minuchin, Satir) et d’intervention de réseau lui ont permis d’élaborer de façon critique son propre modèle d’approche structurelle.The Structural Approach to social work developed by the author has two interlocking objectives: to reduce the social distance between the practitioner and the client; and to understand and resolve social problems in their full social, political and economic context. The basic premise is that objective, material conditions, engendered by patriarch and the means of capitalist production, largely determine the way in which people feel, act and think, depending on their sex and social class.Through a critical review of his training and personal experiences, the author reveals how various models of family therapy (Epstein, Minuchin, Satir) and of network intervention, have helped him to develop in an objective way, his own structural approach.El enfoque estructural desarrollado por el autor tiene dos objetivos: el de reducir la distancia social entre el profesional y la cliente, y el de comprender y resolver los problemas sociales en su contexto social, político, y económico. El postulado de base es el que las condiciones materiales objectivas engendradas por el patriarcado y por el modo de producción capitalista determinan el modo en que los hombres y las mujeres piensans y actúan según su clase social.
