Un corpus de plus de quatre-vingts heures d’entrevues a été recueilli à la fin de la décennie 2000 auprès de francophones de quatre localités rurales manitobaines. Ce corpus constitue une ressource inestimable pour un enseignement du français basé sur du discours authentique et pour un travail spécifique à mener sur l’oral, en particulier sur la variation linguistique. C’est avec le souci de valoriser la forme première d’expression langagière que constitue l’oral et la «couleur» que cette langue orale revêt au Manitoba qu’un outil didactique basé sur des extraits du corpus a été élaboré, à l’intention principalement des enseignants de français langue première au cycle secondaire. L’article en explicite le contexte didactique, les objectifs et la démarche à partir de la présentation d’exploitations pédagogiques de ces extraits, dont de nombreuses sont axées sur la conscientisation. En milieu francophone minoritaire, valoriser, en contexte scolaire, «l’oral d’ici» est affecté d’enjeux déterminants: sensibiliser les élèves à l’importance stylistique et identitaire des variétés vernaculaires, faire valoir la fonction identitaire de l’oral et, plus fondamentalement, contribuer à construire chez les élèves un rapport positif à la langue française, condition nécessaire pour qu’ils se perçoivent comme les bâtisseurs de l’espace francophone.At the end of the first decade of the twenty-first century, a corpus of more than twenty-four hours of interviews with Francophones from four rural Manitoban communities was collected. This corpus constitutes a resource of inestimable value for the teaching of spoken French and for the conduct of research on oral French, in particular, linguistic variation. The desire to promote the first form of linguistic expression–spoken language–and the specific “colour“ of spoken French in Manitoba led to the development of a pedagogical tool based on extracts from this corpus for the use of teachers of French in French-language secondary schools. The present article discusses the pedagogical context, the relevant objectives and the approach taken on the basis of a presentation of the pedagogical uses of these extracts, many of which are based on awareness-raising. Within the context of French as a minority language, promoting “French as it is spoken here“ within an educational setting involves consideration of the following key issues: raising awareness amongst the pupils of the stylistic and cultural importance of vernacular varieties, acknowledging the cultural relevance of spoken language and, still more fundamentally, contributing to the development amongst the pupils of a positive understanding of the French language, a necessary condition for ensuring that they perceive themselves as the guardians of the Francophone community
