Même si la prévention du plagiat et la promotion de l’intégrité intellectuelle sont des enjeux de première importance pour les enseignants universitaires, le rapport entre compétences informationnelles et plagiat demeure moins connu pour bon nombre d’entre eux. Il serait donc important qu’une stratégie de promotion de l’intégrité intellectuelle inclue la sensibilisation des enseignants aux lacunes informationnelles de leurs étudiants et à l’incidence qu’elles peuvent avoir sur le plagiat. À l’Université McGill, des ateliers portant sur la promotion de l’intégrité intellectuelle servent de point de départ pour amorcer un dialogue entre bibliothécaires et enseignants sur la question des compétences informationnelles des étudiants.Even though the prevention of plagiarism and the promotion of intellectual integrity are of prime importance for university professors, the relationship between information literacy competencies and plagiarism remains blurred to several of them. It is therefore important to include an awareness of the information literacy shortcomings of students and their impact on plagiarism when developing a strategy of intellectual integrity. The intellectual integrity workshops offered by McGill University serve to foster discussion between librarians and professors about the information literacy competencies of students.Si bien prevenir el plagio y promover la integridad intelectual son temas de primera importancia para los docentes universitarios, la relación que existe entre las competencias informacionales y el plagio aún sigue siendo un tema desconocido para un buen número de ellos. Sería importante, entonces, que una estrategia para promover la integridad intelectual incluya sensibilizar a los docentes sobre los vacíos informacionales de sus estudiantes y su incidencia en el plagio. En la Universidad McGill, los talleres orientados a promover la integridad intelectual sirven como punto de partida para entablar un diálogo inicial entre bibliotecarios y profesores sobre la cuestión de las competencias informacionales de los estudiantes
