Cet article analyse la problématique des régionalismes identitaires en Ontario français dans le contexte de la montée de l’idéologie de la participation des années 1970 et du début des années 1980. En 1969, l’adoption, par l’Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario (ACFO), d’un vaste programme d’animation socioculturelle contribua, à certains égards, à exacerber les fractures régionales qui traversaient la collectivité franco-ontarienne. Si l’objectif de l’animation était de permettre aux régions de prendre leur propre destin en main, tout en suscitant leur participation au grand projet d’autonomisation institutionnelle de l’ACFO, dans certains cas, les dirigeants locaux en vinrent à formuler une critique cinglante à l’endroit de l’élite ottavienne, qui souffrait, à leurs yeux, d’un déficit de « représentativité ». L’étude permet de cerner quelques-unes des difficultés liées à la création d’une référence franco-ontarienne commune et capable de transcender les clivages régionaux.This article examines the issue of regional identities in Francophone Ontario within the context of the emergence of a participation ideology during the 1970’s and the beginning of the 1980’s. In 1969, the adoption of a vast sociocultural development program by the Association of French Canadians in Ontario (ACFO) contributed to and in some respects exacerbated the regional fractures that spanned the Franco-Ontarian community. If the objective of this development program was to allow regions to choose their own destiny while instigating their participation in ACFO’s larger scheme of institutional empowerment, in some cases, the local leaders proceeded to formulate a scathing criticism of the place of the Ottawa elite, who, in their opinion, suffered from a lack of “representativeness”. This study allows the identification of some of the difficulties related to the creation of a common Franco-Ontarian reference capable of transcending regional divisions
