Au vu des résultats d’une enquête sociologique portant sur l’incidence du hip-hop sur la persévérance scolaire, nous questionnons l’intérêt des hip-hoppeurs québécois à l’égard de la politique institutionnalisée. L’analyse des valeurs intériorisées et véhiculées par ces jeunes nous a amenée à nous rendre compte qu’il existe un désintérêt réel par rapport à l’univers politique, que l’on parle d’implication ou de la place accordée aux revendications politiques. La culture hip-hop a une longue tradition de revendication et d’activisme, et la conscientisation a toujours été l’un des thèmes centraux dans les disciplines artistiques. Cependant, dans le cas présent, l’expérience hip-hop se vit comme un espace de création dont la préoccupation majeure est l’épanouissement de soi au moyen de la création artistique et le désir d’intégrer l’industrie culturelle. Dans ce cas-ci, l’intérêt politique ne va pas de pair avec l’appartenance hip-hop.In the context of a wide-scale sociological study on the question of the impact of hip-hop on school persistence among Quebec’s youth, we have investigated the interest of québécois hip-hopers for institutionalized politics. The analysis of the values, which are internalized and conveyed by these youth led us to think that there is a significant lack of interest for formal political issues, whether framed in terms of actual involvement with political issues or an emphasis on political demands. On a global scale, hip-hop culture has a long history of activism, advocacy and awareness rising through its artistic disciplines and expressions. However, in the case of the Hip-hop artists discussed in this article, the art form is lived as an artistic creation in which the main pursuit is about the blossoming of self-expressions, and a desire to penetrate the local culture industry. In this case, hip-hop is not synonymous to a concern for the transformation of institutionalized political relations.A la vista de los resultados de una encuesta sociológica sobre la incidencia del hip-hop en la perseverancia escolar, nosotros cuestionaremos el interés de los miembros del movimiento hip-hop hacia la política institucionalizada. El análisis de los valores institucionalizados y vehiculados por esos jóvenes nos lleva a constatar que existe un desinterés real en relación al universo político, tanto en lo que concierne al compromiso político como al lugar acordado a las reivindicaciones políticas. La cultura hip-hop tiene una larga tradición de reivindicación y de activismo, y la concientización ha sido siempre uno de los temas centrales en la disciplinas artísticas. Sin embargo, la experiencia hip-hop se vive hoy como un espacio de creación cuya preocupación principal es la realización de sí mismo por intermedio de la creación arística y el deseo de integrar la industria cultural. En este caso, el interés político no acompaña la pertenencia hip-hop
