De nombreux antihéros ayant peu d’estime d’eux-mêmes ainsi que plusieurs représentations distopiques de la masculinité sont apparus dans le cinéma chinois depuis la fin de la Révolution culturelle. Cet article examine deux modes d’interprétation de ce phénomène, en s’appuyant particulièrement sur Samsara de Huang Jianxin (1989) et L’Année de mon signe de Xie Fei (1989). Le point de vue de Francis Fukuyama, considérant que cet état de fait se rattache à la tendance globale vers le libéralisme économique et politique, est rejeté en faveur d’une orientation postsocialiste plus complexe, moins unifiée, reliée à la notion de postmodernisme.A variety of self-hating anti-heroes and distopic representations of masculinity have appeared in Chinese cinema since the end of the Cultural Revolution. This paper examines two possible interpretive frameworks for this phenomenon, by investigating in particular Samsara by Huang Jianxin (1989) and This is My Year by Xie Fei (1989). Seeing it as part of the global trend towards economic and political liberalism advanced by Francis Fukuyama is rejected in favour of a more complex, less unified postsocialist formation, itself a part of postmodernism
