« Programming and Reprogramming Artworks » développe une réflexion sur la pratique « aiguillographique » de Rosika Desnoyers et, plus spécifiquement, son rapport au concept de programmation et à l’automatisation du travail manuel. L’article explore, dans un premier temps, la manière par laquelle l’artiste investit une histoire des erreurs qui s’est tracée en marge du programme automatisé inhérent à la production de broderies de style Berlin. Dans un deuxième temps, l’étude de la pratique de Desnoyers est approfondie et mise en relation avec l’art conceptuel et le développement de la « peinture par d’autres moyens ».Programming and Reprogramming Artworks discusses the “needlegraph” practice of Rosika Desnoyers, its relationship to the concept of programming and the automation of manual labor. The paper explores the artist’s engagement with a history of errors that is mapped against the automated programme that is inherent in the production of Berlin work needlepoints and it concludes with an extended discussion of the artist’s practice in relation to conceptual art and an extended or expanded practice of “painting by other means.”
