Laplupart des chercheurs, cependant, persistent à déplorer une absenced’intérêt pour la matière. Pour sortir de cette relative impasse, il estpeut-être nécessaire de faire le point sur la situation actuelle en présentant lesthéories existantes, les théories qui s’en écartent afin de suggérerquelques orientations possibles pour la recherche future.Researchers generally agree that the beginnings of "scientific traductology" canbe traced back to the second half of the last century. Since this time, however,critical reflection has remained uneven; much has been written about poetic orliterary translation, while theatrical translation has remained in the shadows formany years. Yet this situation has begun to change, as illustrated by the growingnumber of studies. Most researchers, however, continue to denounce a general lack ofinterest in the topic. It is instructive, therefore, to avoid this impasse bypresenting the current critical situation in theatre translation, to assess existingand sometimes conflicting theories in order to suggest a general orientation forfuture research
