L’auteur, metteur en scène, revient sur une triple expérienced’adaptation théâtrale. Ce rapport de tension entre texte et scène est larègle ordinaire au théâtre, mais il subit, grâce au détour par le roman, uneexacerbation révélatrice. L’auteur croit trouver dans les trois cas defigure qu’il analyse, trois états de l’adaptation :l’assimilation par la forme dramatique ou le degré plein del’adaptation (Les frèresKaramazov de Dostoïevski); la « mauvaiseadaptation », qui part d’un désir fou de fidélité (L’automne le plus nébuleux de Grisoeilde Musil); enfin l’adaptation impossible ou la« désadaptation » (Lenz de Büchner). Il en tire quelques certitudes provisoires àpropos de la pratique du théâtre.The author, who is also a stage director, reviews in this article threeexperiments in theatrical adaptation. While tension between text and stage is therule in the theatre, it is enhanced by a revealing detour through the novel. Theauthor believes he has found, in the three cases which he analyses, three states ofadaptation: assimilation by the dramatic form or the full degree of adaptation(The Brothers Karamazov byDostoïevski); the "bad adaptation", which comes from a crazy desire for fidelity(L’automne le plus nébuleux deGrisoeil by Musil); finally, the impossible adaptation or "loss ofadaptability" (Lenz by Büchner).
