Face au débat qui fait rage, surtout aux États-Unis, à propos de rétablissement, parla voie de psychothérapie ou de la psychanalyse, de la réalité des événements traumatiques,l'auteur insiste sur un usage rigoureux des termes du débat. La théorie freudienne, axée iciautour du concept de réalité psychique, ne saurait se porter à l'appui inconditionnel deTune ou l'autre des parties en présence (« recovered memories » et « false memories »). Ils'agit au contraire de poser l'originalité du concept de réalité psychique, qui se distingueà la fois de la réalité événementielle et de la pure imagination. L'auteur soulignel'approche spécifiquement psychanalytique de l'accès à la mémoire, et s'en sert pourcritiquer tant les notions de « souvenirs retrouvés » que de « faux souvenirs », tout enréaffirmant ce qui serait une éthique fondamentale de la psychanalyse et de toutepsychothérapie qui prétend s'en inspirer.With the raging debate particularly in the United States regarding the establishmentthrough the path of psychotherapy or psychoanalysis of the reality of traumatic events, theauthor insists on a rigourous use of the terms of the debate. The Freudian theory,surrounding the concept of psychic reality could not bear only on the unconditional supportof either parts: recovered memories/false memories. On the contrary, emphasis must be put onthe originality of the concept of psychic reality, which distinguishes itself from botheventful reality and pure imagination. The author underlines the specificallypsychoanalytical approach of access to memory, and uses it to criticize notions of recoveredmemory as well as false memories, while reaffirming what would be a fundamental ethic ofpsychoanalysis and any other psychotherapy claiming to be inspired by it
