International Metalworkers' Federation is identified as the president of that organization, which he is not. In sum, this book has not fulfilled my expectations. It has not built upon important research that was done in the late sixties and early seventies on this topic, and it has approached the task of generating new information in an unsystematic and uncomprehensive fashion. As a result, one does not get a full picture of international trade union activity; one receives only partial information about the set of institutions Weinberg has examined. The attempt to relate international trade union activity to integration theory is a most worthy one, but unfortunately the linkage between the two is not developed effectively here. The questionnaire fails to get at that particular issue, and from the theoretical standpoint the discussion does not bring out the major relationships. While this general topic is an important one, and it is useful to update developments on these matters, it is unfortunate that this book does not contribute to a comprehensive expansion of knowledge in the area.
