Après avoir étudié l'Indien comme instance discursive du western, cet articleanalyse Dances with Wolves (Kevin Costner, 1990) dans une perspective d'altérité etde spécificité autochtone. L'analyse conclut que Dances with Wolves opère unrenversement discursif en donnant aux Blancs le mauvais rôle face aux bons Indiens,mais qu'aucune communication n'est possible sur le terrain d'une violence inhérenteà la société blanche. Suite à cette analyse, une réflexion est amorcée surl'émergence du discours autochtone.After an examination of the Indian as a discursive instance of the Western, thisarticle analyses Dances with Wolves (Kevin Costner, 1990) from the perspective ofalterity and Native specificity. The analysis concludes that Dances with Wolvesachieves a discursive reversal by giving Whites the role of bad guy opposing thegood Indians, but that no communication is possible on the terrain of violence thatis inherent in White society. This analysis opens the way for a discussion of theemergence of a Native discourse
