Deux récentes études contradictoires publiées sur la rentabilité, pour le Québec, de la Voie maritime du Saint-Laurent comportent un tel nombre d'inexactitudes et d'erreurs méthodologiques qu'on ne peut, à partir des données qu'elles contiennent, porter un jugement valable et global sur les avantages économiques réels qu'en a retirés le Québec. Bien que les auteurs de ces études s'entendent sur plusieurs points il faudrait établir à nouveau une recherche exempte de parti pris. De toute façon, il eût été préférable, maintenant que le projet est devenu réalité depuis tant d'années, de se demander quelle action le Québec peut AUJOURD'HUI entreprendre pour retirer le maximum d'avantages de cette réalisation.Two recent contradictory studies concerning the profitability for the province of Québec of the St. Lawrence Seaway contain so many errors and methodological biases that it becomes impossible to make any kind of conclusion about the real economic advantages accruing to the province from it. Although the authors of these studies agree on many aspects, all the research will have to be done again on a more scientific basis, avoiding this time any political partisanery. It would have been preferable, in any case, that the focus be placed on the types of action that Québec can undertake TODAY now that this realization is 26 years old
