RÉSUMÉ« Être épousée par un naq ». Les implications du mariage avec l'esprit dans le culte de possession birman (Myanmar)En Birmanie, les relations entre les possédés et les naq - les esprits auxquels le culte de possession est adressé - sont principalement conçues comme une relation de mariage entre une femme et un esprit masculin. Les esprits apparaissent comme les preneurs de femme, à l'inverse de ce qui se passe dans l'alliance de mariage qui fonde la relation chamanique. La relation reproduit celle qui lie symboliquement le roi et les communautés locales et qui est à l'origine de l'institutionnalisation du culte des naq. L'englobement des communautés locales dans le royaume est en effet considéré comme la conséquence d'une alliance initiale entre le roi et la sœur d'un héros local qui est ensuite élevé à la position d'esprit tuté-laire de sa région d'origine par le même roi. Aux deux niveaux, l'alliance traduit une domination qui peut être qualifiée plus précisément de subordination réversible et qui a pour modèle la position conférée à la femme dans le mariage. La relation permettant la possession dans le culte birman se démarque aussi du chamanisme parce qu'il s'agit moins pour la communauté humaine de traiter avec la « surnature » que de régler les rapports entre communautés particulières et communauté englobante.Mots clés : Brac de la Perrière, possession, mariage rituel, naq, BirmanieABSTRACT" To Be Taken as Spouse by a Naq ". Implication ot a Marriage with a Spirit in the Burmese Possession Cuit (Myanmar)In Burma, the relationship between " spirit-mediums " and naq spirits who are the object of the possession cuit is mainly thought in terms of a marriage between a female human and a mâle spirit. The spirits appear to be " wife-takers ", contrary to the marriage alliance which is described as the basis of the shamanistic relationship. This relationship is similar to one that symbolically links the king with the local communities, the origin of the " institutionalization " of the naq cuit. The bringing together of various particular communities in the kingdom might well be conceived as the consequence of an initial union between the king and a local hero's sister - a hero who is afterwards appointed by the king as a local tutelary spirit. At both levels, the marriage alliance expresses a domination one may qualify more precisely as a " reversible subordination ", modeled according to the position conferred to the woman in marriage. The relationship which allows " possession " in the Burmese cuit differs also from the shamanistic one because it is not dealing with " surnature " for the human community but with regulating links between particular communities and the greater whole.Key words : Brac de la Perrière, possession, ritual marriage, naq, Burm
